Known as one of the eight World Heritage Sites in South Africa, the Cradle of Humankind is just less than an hours drive from Johannesburg. Enjoy a guided tour of the Sterkfontein Caves that is owned by the University of Witswatersrand, whose scientists are responsible for the main excavations that have taken place at the World Heritage Site. They are credited with many of the significant discoveries in the caves such as the famous fossils named Mrs. Du Ples and Little Foot, the latter being an almost complete Australopithecus skeleton dating back more than 3 million years.
