When To Go To Serengeti?

For the safari enthusiasts, honeymooners, families, kids, and solo travellers, all year round is perfect if planning on visiting Serengeti National Park, unless there are some things to consider.  If the weather is not the subject, let's find out together what note:

The Weather: Serengeti has the best weather considering its location in the central part of Africa, and it is no doubt that any time of the year depending on preferences is best when to visit. There are two rainfall seasons that break down the dry seasons. March to May is the wettest and longest rain season that gives the lush vegetation and a boom to a spectacular ecosystem. 

The short rains of November and December drive the herds of wildebeest to the breeding grounds leading to January and February's breading season period.

Type Of Activities: Depending on what you may want to cover. All activities except the indoor ones are to be considered only if the weather permits. You can always tailor-make your own tour-activities putting your preferences first.

The Grant Migration: the grand migration of Serengeti is very spectacular, but its timing varies each and every year. Around the months of June and July are excellent chances of seeing the migration and the calving of wildebeest in the late January and end of February.  From June to July we expect the crossing in the Grumeti River and around September across the Mara River.

Best Weather: there is absolutely no rain or sometimes the experience of little rain in the months of June till October. Few mosquitoes and fewer malaria risks, high concentration of animals around the waterholes and rivers with lush vegetation. This season is mostly sunny and expects the migration from  June and April to May 

Where To Go?

Northern Serengeti - usually has fewer visitors though the landscape is quite spectacular in granite outcrops and so much opens woodlands and savanna best grounds for wildlife. In this part of the park, it is large herds of elephants are seen, and is the largest lion concentration area. Leopards and cheetahs are the big deal. In your bucket list add; giraffes, hartebeest, buffalos, topi, and the migration o the wildebeest during the months of July and August.

Southern Serengeti- This part of the park stretches beautifully in a scenic influential way presenting the plain grounds and different landscapes from the Central Serengeti to Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Visiting this part of the park in the months of December and May, it presents the grand herds of migrants; the wildebeest, gazelles, and zebra along with their calves. In February, it will be the months to witness the prey-predator game by the hungry lions, hyenas, leopards, and cheetahs targeting these wildlife abundances.

Eastern Serengeti - This is where you need to be for the best natural beauty of the park and its adventure. Less effort is needed to spot the wildlife on the plains around as they present the savanna type of climate that accommodates the abundance for the inland Safaris. With valleys around, mountains and grassy plains, so much human activities like mountain biking, horseback riding, hot air balloon, helicopter tours, and so much of river safari activities. Most importantly, it is the cheetah region.
