The Madikwe reserve is a theatre of wildlife and you have a luxury seat. It is a true sanctuary for all species that find solace here. Just 4 hours drive away from Johannesburg City, and approximately 298Km from Johannesburg lies Madikwe Game Reserve a conservation area surrounded by some most luxurious safari game lodges in South Africa’s North West Province which shares its borders with  Botswana. The reserve’s grassland, forest, and rocky Tshwene Tshwene hills are home to a variety of wildlife such as elephants, lions, leopards, and rhinos, plus endangered wild dogs. Hundreds of bird species include ostrich, vultures, and the large kori bustard. Animals often gather at the Madikwe Dam to drink at sunset

Rainy Season: It rains from October to April with the highest rainfall expected between November and February. Daytime temperatures are hot and humid with an average of 88°F (31°C). Madikwe Game Reserve remains an all year round safari destination. 

Where to Go?:

Besides the guided game viewing drives in Madikwe, other places of interests not far away from Madikwe will be the Sun City Resort which is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes drive away. Here you could go the the valley of waves, a human made beach, Sun City casino or take a self drive or guided tour into Pilannesberg National Park for more safari game viewing. Other attractions includes hot-air balloons in Pilannesberg, Hiking in Schoongezicht or visit the Motseng Cultural village which is within walking distance from sun city.
